Seems rare anymore to meet someone who totally loves their job,
but to Larry, coffee is not a job, it is his art, his passion!
Larry has spent nearly his entire life on the Monterey Peninsula
surrounded by the beauty of the Central California Coast. Coffee
came into his life in 1991 when he started his roasting apprenticeship
at Caffe Trieste.
Founded in 1956 by "Papa Gianni" Giotta, Caffe Trieste
was the first espresso bar on the west coast. This fantastic roastery
is still operating toady on North Beach in San Francisco. Larry
credits the Giotta Family for his love of coffee and roasting expertise.
While at Caffe Trieste, Larry was under the careful guidance of
Ahmed Riad. Larry learned to be an artisan, not a machine operator.
Truly, roasting is an art form.
When you watch Larry Thiurman at the roaster, you will want no
other bean. Larry believes in fair traded, sustainable coffees.
